Good Stuff: Cast Art

After ending up in a cast up to her elbow this winter, and knowing that anything and everything can be looked at as a design opportunity, Kaki held an impromptu 10-minute design charrette for a pattern to draw on her cast. Forget about the days of signing good-wishes; Kaki's sense of style demanded a better and more customized approach. With trust in her team, Kaki agreed to draw the winning design on her cast.

Seven designers participated in the design contest, each coming up with a full-cast design that spoke to the field of landscape architecture or Kaki's personality, not prerequisites, just coincidences. All staff, except Kaki, participated in a poll to pick their favorite.

Design #5 won the popular vote, a nod to Kaki's homemade smoothies. Kaki drew the winning design on the more visible portion of her cast and, as a conciliatory prize, drew pieces of runners-up #1 and #4 on the inner part of her cast.
