Honor Award for The Speedway
Our work at the Charles River Speedway has won a 2025 BSLA Honor Award in the General Design category.
Working for Architectural Heritage Foundation and alongside Bruner Cott Architects and Nitsch Engineering the project transformed a long-neglected historic site into a vibrant community destination. Deteriorating and vacant for 25 years, the space now thrives with retail, dining, and social activity. Thoughtful design and material choices seamlessly blend the site's rich history with the needs of its new occupants. More than just a functional upgrade, the landscape knits The Speedway to its historic location on the banks of the Charles River, reinventing its program and reinforcing its role as a dynamic community hub.
The jury noted the project was— “a thoughtfully scaled and proportioned transformation that reactivates a historic site into a vibrant, flexible public space with strong indoor-outdoor connectivity and green infrastructure.”
